Fencing solutions that fit Mount Pleasant homes
If you live in Mount Pleasant, you probably have a little more yard than folks closer to Concord, whether it is a brick ranch from the 1970s along a quiet road or a newer two story home in a developing subdivision. Many of our calls at Legendary Fence Company Concord start with the same concern: a homeowner wants to keep children or pets safe in a deep backyard, but they also want a fence that looks right with a traditional Cabarrus County home and can handle our humid summers and occasional winter ice.
When we visit a Mount Pleasant property, we first look at the age and layout of the home. Older farm style and ranch homes around town often sit on wider lots with mature oaks and pines, so we plan fence lines that weave around established trees and outbuildings instead of forcing everything into a strict rectangle. For newer construction off the main routes, lot lines are tighter and homeowners want privacy between back porches, so we work with HOA guidelines and property plats to set a fence that gives privacy without crowding neighbors.
Our team is used to the clay soil in this part of North Carolina, which drains differently than sandy soil closer to the coast. We set posts deep enough to stay solid through wet springs, afternoon thunderstorms, and dry late summers, and we use concrete mixes that perform well in our freeze and thaw cycles. Because Mount Pleasant gets plenty of sun and humidity, we also talk with you about how shade and moisture on your property will affect wood or vinyl long term, so the fence we design matches the real conditions in your yard, not just a picture in a catalog.
Residential fence installation tailored to local properties
Mount Pleasant has a mix of older homes with open front lawns and newer subdivisions where backyards are defined by decks and small patios. Legendary Fence Company Concord plans each residential fence installation around these patterns.
For long established homes on larger lots, especially where a barn or workshop sits behind the house, we often recommend a combination layout. A wood privacy fence might start near the back door to screen patios and play areas, then transition to residential chain link along the rear property line to keep costs down while still containing pets. In these deeper yards, we pay attention to slight grade changes that are common on older properties, using stepped or racked panels so gaps do not appear under the fence.
In the newer neighborhoods around Mount Pleasant, many homeowners choose full yard privacy fencing to create a quiet space away from nearby houses. We install vinyl and wood privacy fences that work with smaller, more rectangular lots and match existing siding and trim colors. Because some of these developments have drainage easements or utility boxes along the back property line, we help you position the fence so service access is maintained while you still get the enclosure you want.
Our crews schedule work around typical local conditions. Summer installations are planned for hot, humid days with afternoon storms, so we set posts early and return to hang panels after concrete cures properly. In cooler months, we account for harder ground and the occasional cold snap. Throughout the process, we communicate clearly about timing so you know when gates will be usable and when pets need to stay inside.
Repair and replacement for aging Mount Pleasant fences
Because many Mount Pleasant homes were built decades ago, we see a lot of aging wood fences that went up when the house was first constructed. After years of sun, humidity, and the occasional ice or wind event, sections start to lean, boards cup or split, and gate hardware rusts. Legendary Fence Company Concord helps you decide whether a residential fence repair is enough or if it is time for full residential fence replacement.
For fences that are mostly solid but have a few problem areas, we replace rotted posts, straighten leaning sections, and swap out damaged pickets. The red clay and periodic heavy rains in this area can push and soften older post foundations, so we reset them deeper and brace them properly. We also upgrade latches and hinges so gates close securely even after the wood swells in humid summer air.
When a fence has reached the end of its life, usually after long exposure to Mount Pleasant’s sun and moisture without regular staining, we plan a complete replacement that improves both strength and appearance. On older properties, homeowners may want to keep the same basic layout to avoid disturbing gardens or established landscaping. We can rebuild along the existing line with modern materials, adjusting only where erosion or tree roots have caused long term problems.
Storm related damage is another common reason for repair calls in this area. Strong thunderstorms can drop limbs from tall pines or oaks onto fence runs. We carefully remove damaged sections, check for hidden cracks in nearby posts, and match new materials to the existing fence so the repair does not stand out. Our goal is always to restore safety for kids and pets quickly while helping your property keep the settled, comfortable look that Mount Pleasant homes are known for.
Custom wood, vinyl, and chain link fences built for local conditions
Homeowners in Mount Pleasant often want a fence that respects the character of their house, whether that means a classic wood privacy style around a ranch home or a clean vinyl design beside a newer brick facade. Legendary Fence Company Concord offers custom residential fences, privacy fence installation, wood fence installation, vinyl fence installation, and residential chain link fences that take these preferences and local conditions into account.
Wood remains very popular here because it pairs well with older siding and brick and can be stained to match porches or shutters. Given our humid climate, we recommend pressure treated wood and talk with you about staining schedules to resist mildew and sun graying. For properties with uneven ground, we design custom heights and picket spacing so the top line looks intentional and the bottom follows the slope closely.
Vinyl fencing works well for homeowners who want a lower maintenance option that stands up to frequent summer storms and strong sun. We install vinyl panels with reinforced rails that resist warping in heat, and we pay attention to wind patterns in more open areas around Mount Pleasant when placing posts and gates. Because many newer homes have concrete patios and walkways, our installers use mounting hardware and techniques that create solid gate posts where concrete meets soil.
Residential chain link fences are common on deeper or more rural feeling lots around town where the priority is secure pet containment rather than privacy. We anchor chain link posts to handle the softening that can happen in wet seasons, and we offer coated options that hold up better against rust in humid air. For families who want both openness and some screening, we can combine chain link in the rear portion of a property with wood or vinyl privacy along the sides.
